Constructor Agentic Checkout: Stripe pay inside your site agent
Constructor's Agentic Checkout puts Stripe and Link payments inside its onsite AI shopping agent. Here's what it means for your store's checkout plan.
Constructor, a product search and discovery company whose clients include Sephora and Petco, launched Agentic Checkout on October 5. Shoppers can now find a product, ask questions, and pay with Stripe without leaving Constructor's AI shopping agent. Most agentic checkout news is about agents on someone else's platform: ChatGPT, Meta, TikTok. This one puts the checkout inside the agent on your own site.
What actually happened
Constructor's announcement on PR Newswire gives these details:
- Where it runs. Inside Constructor's AI Shopping Agent and its product insights agent. Constructor says more retailer touchpoints come later in 2026.
- How shoppers pay. Stripe-powered checkout with Link by Stripe and other payment methods. Constructor says retailers who do not use Stripe for their main checkout do not have to change their payment setup.
- Availability. Global, now. Constructor did not publish pricing.
- Claims. Constructor calls itself the first to offer Stripe-powered checkout inside an onsite shopping agent. It also says its agent deployments grew 900% year over year. Those are company figures, not independent data.
Why it matters for your business
The checkout is moving into the conversation. When an agent answers "which of these fits a 40-pound dog," the shopper's next message is "buy it." If the agent then sends them to a cart page, you add a step at the moment of highest intent.
You do not need Constructor to act on this. You need to know what your stack can do:
- Check your payment processor's agent tools. Stripe's agent toolkit, for example, supports payments inside chat and agent flows. Know what your processor offers before a vendor pitches you.
- Measure the drop between agent and cart. If you already run a chat or search assistant, track how many shoppers who get an answer start checkout. That gap is the number this product is built to close.
- Keep fraud and returns rules in one place. A second checkout path must use the same tax, shipping, discount, and fraud logic as the first. Two sets of rules means two sets of bugs.
- Own the data. An onsite agent sees what shoppers ask for and cannot find. Make sure your contract lets you export those queries.
