E2B passes $100M ARR: agent sandboxes are now infrastructure

E2B, which gives AI agents isolated cloud computers, says it passed $100M ARR, up from $8M a year ago, with ~200,000 teams. Isolate every agent run.

The fastest-growing line item in AI is not the model. It is the computer the agent runs on. On November 5, E2B, which sells isolated cloud sandboxes for AI agents, said in a Business Wire release that it passed $100 million in annualized run rate, up from $8 million a year ago. If agent sandboxes are a nine-figure business, your agents need one too.

What actually happened

Per E2B's release (company-reported, not independently audited):

  • Revenue. The body says E2B "has passed $100 million" in ARR. The headline says $120 million. We report the lower figure. E2B says it was at $8 million a year ago and projects over $150 million of net new revenue this year.
  • Usage. Close to 200,000 teams. One billion agent computers started by June 2026, two billion by October.
  • How it sells. E2B says almost all growth is inbound. It names Manus as a customer that signed up self-serve and scaled with no sales calls.
  • Product. Each task runs on its own isolated machine that shares nothing, "not even memory," with dedicated networking, a firewall and filtering. A configured workspace copies in milliseconds. Agents get a browser, a password vault and separate identities per job.
  • Compliance. SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA-ready. Total funding is $38 million.

The release does not publish pricing tiers or how many of the ~200,000 teams pay.

Why it matters for your business

When an agent writes and runs code, opens a browser or logs into a vendor portal, it needs somewhere to do that. The lazy answer is your server or your laptop. That is how one bad prompt becomes access to your customer database.

E2B's numbers say serious builders have stopped doing that. The pattern is simple: every agent task gets a throwaway machine with its own network rules and its own credentials, and the machine dies when the task ends. Whether you buy it from E2B, a cloud provider or run it yourself, the rule is the same.

Before you connect an agent to anything that matters, ask three questions. Where does its code execute? What can that machine reach on the network? Whose credentials does it hold, and for how long?

Key takeaways

  • E2B says it passed $100M ARR on November 5, up from $8M a year earlier (headline says $120M)
  • Close to 200,000 teams; two billion agent sandboxes started by October 2026
  • Each sandbox is an isolated machine with its own network, firewall and identity
  • Figures are self-reported; pricing tiers and paying-customer counts are not disclosed
  • Never let an agent execute code or browse on a machine that holds production access
