Five9 buys Level AI for $325M: your AI support vendor moves

Five9 is acquiring Level AI, an AI customer service platform, for about $325M in cash. Standalone sales continue. Here's what to pin down before renewal.

Five9 is acquiring Level AI for about $325 million in cash. Level AI sells AI applications for customer service teams and runs its own models built for support conversations. The deal announcement, filed with the SEC on November 5, says the board approved it unanimously and expects it to close in 2026. If Level AI runs anywhere in your support stack, that vendor now reports to a contact center company.

What actually happened

Per the release, Five9 pays from its own balance sheet, and the close is still "subject to the satisfaction of certain closing conditions." Level AI names Gusto, Chime, Empyrean and VistaPrint as customers and says it handles more than one billion customer interactions a year. The two companies have worked together since 2022, and Level AI apps already sit in the Five9 CX Marketplace.

Two details matter more than the price:

  • Level AI keeps a standalone path. Five9 says companies on on-prem contact centers or other clouds can adopt Level AI "without first buying Five9's CCaaS platform." Inside Five9, it becomes the AI application layer of the Genius CX Platform.
  • Level AI brings its own models. The release describes Level AI Latitude as a family of models built for customer conversations, with "lower costs and latencies than frontier models." That is a vendor claim. Benchmark it on your own transcripts before you rely on it.

The release says nothing about contract terms or pricing for current customers. Level AI's founder says the company will "continue to support the organizations that rely on Level AI today." That is a promise of support. It is not a price lock.

This is the second AI customer service vendor to change owners this week. Dialpad and Ada announced their combination on November 4.

Why it matters for your business

Standalone today usually means bundled at renewal. Five9 says it will sell Level AI to its more than 4,000 customers. The standalone SKU stays alive as long as it wins non-Five9 deals. If you run a small support team on Zendesk, Gorgias or a custom stack with Level AI on top, ask three questions now:

  • When does my contract renew, and what notice do I get on price changes? Get it in writing before close.
  • Can I export my QA scorecards, tags and transcripts in a usable format? Your evaluation rubric is your IP. Keep a copy.
  • Which model scores my calls? If Latitude replaces a frontier model in your workflow, rerun a sample and compare the scores.

Key takeaways

  • Five9 agreed on November 5 to acquire Level AI for about $325M in cash; close expected in 2026
  • Level AI stays available without Five9's CCaaS platform, per the release
  • Level AI's Latitude models claim lower cost and latency than frontier models (vendor claim)
  • No statement on current customer contracts or pricing
  • Write down renewal terms, export your QA data, and re-test scoring if the model changes

Own your support QA, not just the subscription. We build call and chat scoring on your own transcripts and rubric, so the AI vendor is a swappable part. See what we build or talk to us before your next renewal.
