InMobi Ready, Set, Agent: free agentic commerce readiness check

InMobi's free tool grades any storefront on 80 agentic commerce checks. Its scan of 3M U.S. stores found 36% fully ready. Here's what to fix first.

InMobi launched Ready, Set, Agent, a free tool that grades any public storefront on agentic commerce readiness: can an AI shopping agent find your product, read it, add it to a cart, and pay? InMobi also published the numbers from scanning about 3 million U.S. merchants. Only about a third passed end to end. Free tools from ad companies come with an agenda, but a free report card is still a report card.

What actually happened

Per InMobi's announcement on Business Wire, dated October 5:

  • The tool. Ready, Set, Agent runs 80 live probes across 11 categories against a public store URL. No login or install. You get an overall score, category scores, and the finding behind each probe.
  • What it checks. Store access, catalog readability, product attributes, availability, cart interaction, checkout, and payment flow. Each check maps to a step an agent has to complete to buy.
  • The scan. Of roughly 3 million U.S. storefronts, 36% scored 90+ and support a full agent purchase. 15% handle cart and checkout but have discovery gaps. 12% are readable but lack a complete purchase path. InMobi says the remaining 37% sit on platforms it has not yet scanned.
  • The pitch. InMobi Advertising CEO Abhay Singhal said many retailers are "further along than they realize" because their platform has already done the work.

Why it matters for your business

That last quote is the useful part. A lot of readiness is decided by your platform, not you. Checkout and payment plumbing on hosted platforms is moving fast. What the platform cannot fix is your data.

  1. Run it on your store. It takes seconds and costs nothing. Then run it on your two biggest competitors.
  2. Fix discovery before checkout. The 15% middle group is the common trap: an agent could buy, but it cannot tell what you sell. Clean titles, real attributes (size, material, use case), and accurate stock come first.
  3. Know what you control. Separate the failures your platform owns from the ones you own. File the first with your platform. Fix the second this week.
  4. Read the score as a signal, not an audit. It is one vendor's 80 checks. A high score does not mean ChatGPT or Gemini will pick you, only that they could.

Key takeaways

  • InMobi's free Ready, Set, Agent tool grades a storefront on 80 checks across 11 categories
  • Of ~3M U.S. storefronts, 36% support a full agent purchase; 37% were not yet scanned
  • Platform plumbing covers much of checkout; product data is still on you
  • Fix discovery and attributes before chasing checkout features
  • Treat the score as one vendor's signal, not a guarantee of agent traffic
