Klaviyo in Shopify: free email app inside your Shopify admin

Klaviyo in Shopify puts forms, flows and the Composer AI agent in Shopify admin. Free to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month. Know your upgrade trigger.

Klaviyo just moved into the Shopify admin, and it is free to start. On November 3, Klaviyo announced Klaviyo in Shopify, an app that runs sign-up forms, emails and automated flows inside the Shopify admin. You do not need a separate login. Composer, Klaviyo's AI marketing agent, is included. For a new store, the welcome flow and abandoned checkout flow are now a 3-step setup. The real question is what happens when you outgrow the free tier, and that happens faster than most founders expect.

What actually happened

Per Klaviyo's announcement:

  • One app in Shopify admin. Forms, emails and flows live in one app. You install it from the Shopify App Store.
  • Guided setup. Klaviyo pre-builds from your Shopify brand info. There are three steps: publish a sign-up form, turn on a welcome flow, turn on an abandoned checkout flow.
  • Composer included. The AI agent comes with the app, "so there's nothing to upgrade." A dashboard tracks subscribers, conversions and flow revenue, and suggests next steps.
  • Free tier limits. One live sign-up form, up to 3 automated flows, up to 250 active profiles and up to 500 emails per month.
  • Upgrade path. Paid plans add unlimited flows, SMS and custom segmentation. Forms, flows and subscribers carry over. The post sends you to Klaviyo pricing for prices.
  • Setup owner. Only the store owner can finish setup inside Shopify.

Klaviyo says more than 117,000 brands already use its native Shopify integration. The post does not say if the app is in beta, or which regions get it.

Why it matters for your business

For a store under a few hundred subscribers, this removes the most common gap we see: no welcome flow and no abandoned checkout flow. Those two flows are where email pays first. If you have neither, install this and turn both on this week.

Now do the math on the free tier. 500 emails a month is small. A 3-email welcome series for 100 new sign-ups is 300 sends. Add abandoned checkout reminders and one campaign, and you hit the cap in the first good month. 250 active profiles goes just as fast once a pop-up starts working. Your best month is the one that pushes you onto a paid plan.

That is fine, but plan for it:

  1. Know the trigger. Pick the profile or send count where you upgrade. Do not let a BFCM sign-up surge decide for you.
  2. Pick your three flows on purpose. Welcome and abandoned checkout first. Hold the third slot for post-purchase or browse abandonment, whichever your data favors.
  3. Treat Composer as a draft writer. Read every suggestion before it goes live. You still own the brand voice and the send list.

Key takeaways

  • Klaviyo in Shopify, announced November 3, runs forms, emails and flows inside the Shopify admin with no separate login
  • Setup is three steps: sign-up form, welcome flow, abandoned checkout flow
  • Composer, Klaviyo's AI marketing agent, is included in the app
  • The free tier stops at 1 form, 3 flows, 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month
  • Set your upgrade trigger before a good month sets it for you

Free gets the flows live. Growth needs them tuned. Rush Commerce builds Shopify and Klaviyo lifecycle flows on data you own, then measures what each flow earns. See the stores we have built or tell us where your email flows stand today.
