Microsoft Clarity Brand Agents put store products in Copilot
Microsoft Clarity Brand Agents now list eligible Shopify and WooCommerce products in Copilot, Bing and MSN, plus agent simulations. Read the catalog terms.
Microsoft Clarity Brand Agents now do more than chat on your product pages. In a November 4 post on the Clarity blog, Microsoft said products from eligible Shopify and WooCommerce merchants can appear across Copilot, Bing, MSN and other Microsoft surfaces when shoppers ask AI for recommendations. The same post adds simulations that test whether AI agents can actually finish a checkout on your site. Clarity is a free analytics tag. The price you pay is in the terms.
What actually happened
From Microsoft's announcement:
- Product discovery. Brand Agents started as an on-site shopping assistant grounded in your live catalog, shipping and return policies. Now eligible Shopify and WooCommerce merchants can have those products show up in Copilot, Bing and MSN answers. The shopper still buys on your website. Stores that already run Brand Agents need no extra catalog upload, and new merchants can turn on the AI-surface listing without running the on-site chat agent. Microsoft does not define "eligible."
- Agentic Analytics. An Agent Activity dashboard shows which AI agents visit and what they do: searches, form fills, logins, bookings, checkout. Simulations run test tasks, starting with commerce and travel scenarios, and report whether the agent finished the task, how long it took and how many steps it needed. Supported agents are Google, OpenAI and Anthropic operators.
- Traffic. Microsoft says weekly AI-agent sessions in Clarity nearly doubled in three weeks to almost 2 million, based on 5.23 million agent sessions across 230,511 projects from August 13 to September 9.
- Ask Clarity, an analyst-style assistant over your session data, is in closed beta for retailers.
- Local businesses on WordPress can let the on-site agent book services through Square, Jobber, HubSpot, Calendly, Housecall Pro or Salesforce.
The fine print lives in Microsoft's Brand Agents documentation. It still labels Brand Agents a beta. Accepting the terms publishes your catalog to Microsoft Merchant Center for Bing and Copilot discovery. Conversation content and interaction events are shared with Microsoft, and you must add a statement saying so to your site's privacy policy.
Why Microsoft Clarity Brand Agents matter for your business
This is a free listing in an AI shopping channel. You keep the checkout, which Microsoft's separate Copilot Checkout, where the purchase happens inside Copilot, does not give you. For a small store, that is a good trade.
The catalog is the ranking signal. Microsoft has published no ranking rules. What it reads is your product data and your policies. Missing sizes, vague titles and stale stock counts go straight into an AI answer. Fix the feed before you opt in.
Run the simulation before the holidays. If an agent can't get through your cart, coupon field or login wall, you want to know in November, not from a drop in sales in December.
Read the privacy obligation. Turning on the chat agent changes what your privacy policy must say. That is a legal edit, not a toggle.
Key takeaways
- Eligible Shopify and WooCommerce products can now appear in Copilot, Bing and MSN; the buyer checks out on your site
- You can list products in AI surfaces without running the on-site chat agent
- Agent simulations test whether Google, OpenAI and Anthropic agents can finish tasks on your site
- Accepting the terms publishes your catalog to Microsoft Merchant Center and shares chat data with Microsoft
- Microsoft has not defined "eligible" or published ranking rules, so product data quality is your only lever
Agents read your catalog before customers do. We clean up product feeds, policies and checkout flows so AI shoppers can find and buy from you, on platforms you control. See how we do it.
