Every SaaS tool you use has shipped an AI chatbot in the last year. Most of them feel bolted on, because they are. Serial entrepreneur Bhavin Turakhia thinks that's a dead end, and he's putting $30 million of his own money into the opposite bet: a workplace suite designed AI-first from scratch, called Neo.

Per TechCrunch, Turakhia — founder of Directi, Radix, Titan, and Zeta — is self-funding Neo, a single platform folding project management, documents, file storage, and AI into one product aimed squarely at Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. His framing: "If you want to build an iPhone, you can't take the parts of a Nokia and somehow convert it into an iPhone."

Two details matter more than the pitch. First, Neo is model-agnostic — enterprises can switch between AI providers instead of being locked to one. Second, the build speed: the initial platform came together in about three months with roughly 45 people (18 engineers), work Turakhia estimates would have taken over a year before generative AI. Neo launched internally in April 2026 and starts rolling out to mid-sized businesses in the coming months. He's candid about the math: "Even if we end up with 2% to 5% market share, that's larger than anything I've built so far."
