Perplexity Computer for e-commerce runs Shopify, Meta and Klaviyo

Perplexity Computer for e-commerce picks products from Shopify sales, builds the page, the Meta ads and the Klaviyo email. The review gates are yours to set.

Perplexity just pitched one AI agent as your whole promo team. On November 3, Perplexity published Computer for e-commerce. It connects Perplexity Computer to Shopify, Meta and Klaviyo. One prompt can take a promotion from "what is selling" to a live landing page, a Meta campaign and a Klaviyo send. That is the work of a merchandiser, a media buyer and an email marketer. The part that decides whether this saves you money or burns it is one line in the post: the business sets which actions need review.

What actually happened

Per Perplexity's announcement and its e-commerce solutions page:

  • Three connectors. Shopify for store data and landing pages, Meta for advertising, Klaviyo for email.
  • Shopify. Computer analyzes product sales, recommends products or collections to push, and builds a landing page in Shopify. Your team can do final edits in the Shopify editor.
  • Meta. It makes ad creative (static ads, plus variations of videos that already performed), sets up the campaign, uploads ads with consistent naming and links them to the Shopify page.
  • Klaviyo. It builds an audience from customer data, writes the email and links it to the page. Perplexity says it can schedule or send "after the required review."
  • Guardrails. Perplexity says Computer works within the goals, budgets and approval rules the business sets. Teams pick which actions need review: publishing pages, sending emails, spending on ads. The example prompt caps a two-week Meta campaign at $1,000 and asks to see all materials before launch.
  • Brand skills. You can save design guidelines and brand voice as reusable skills.

The post does not name the plans that include it or the price. The page offers a free trial and setup help. We could not confirm plan or credit details, so we do not quote any.

Why it matters for your business

The workflow is sound. Sales data, then a page, then ads and email that point at that page: that is how a good promo runs. Most small brands do it across three tabs and two freelancers. An agent that holds the whole chain removes the handoffs where links break and UTMs go missing.

But read the guardrail wording. In the post, the review step lives in the prompt and in the rules your team sets. It is not described as a fixed default. So the agent is as safe as the person who wrote the instructions on a busy Monday. Before you connect your Meta ad account, do three things:

  1. Put a hard cap at the source. Set a spend limit in Meta Ads Manager itself, not only in the prompt. A prompt is a request. An account limit is a control.
  2. Gate every outbound action. Require review for page publish, email send and campaign launch. Turn a gate off only after a month of clean runs.
  3. Scope the Klaviyo audience. Check the segment size and suppression list before the send. An agent that builds the audience can also email your whole list.

Then measure it like a hire. Compare promo revenue, ad cost and unsubscribes against the last three promos you ran by hand.

Key takeaways

  • Perplexity Computer for e-commerce links Shopify, Meta ads and Klaviyo in one agent workflow, announced November 3
  • It picks products from Shopify sales, builds the landing page, the Meta campaign and the Klaviyo email
  • Review gates and budgets come from rules your team sets; the post does not describe them as defaults
  • Plans and pricing are not published in the announcement; there is a free trial and setup help
  • Set spend limits in Meta itself and gate every publish, send and launch before you connect accounts

An agent with your ad account needs limits it cannot talk its way past. Rush Commerce builds promo automations across Shopify, Meta and Klaviyo with hard spend caps, approval steps and logs you own. See how we build AI workflows with real guardrails or price the hours your promos take today.
