Stuut raises $52.5M: AI collections agents chase invoices
Stuut's $52.5M Series B funds AI collections agents across order-to-cash. What it means for small businesses with slow receivables and a full AR inbox.
Stuut, which builds AI collections agents for order-to-cash, raised a $52.5 million Series B led by Insight Partners. Andreessen Horowitz, M12 (Microsoft's venture fund) and Activant also put money in. The round came ten months after the Series A. The signal for operators: investors now pay for agents that touch cash, not only agents that write copy.
What actually happened
Per Stuut's announcement, the company now has more than 150 customers and has moved over $3 billion through its platform. Its agents handle collections, cash application, payments, disputes and deductions. Stuut says it will push deeper into credit, lending and funds movement next.
The company claims customers cut days sales outstanding (DSO) by 47% and free up as much as 40% more cash flow. Those are Stuut's own numbers, not audited results. Tech Funding News reported the same round size, lead and investors.
Stuut sells to large companies. Its customer list includes enterprises on legacy SAP. You are probably not its buyer. But the job it does is the same job a 12-person distributor does every Friday: look at the aging report, send the reminders, match the payments that came in.
Why AI collections agents matter for your business
Receivables are the cleanest agent use case we know. The data is structured. The goal is a number. Every reminder has a clear "did they pay" result. Compare that to a support chatbot, where "good" is a matter of opinion.
The hard part is the rules, not the email. An agent that sends a polite reminder is easy. An agent that knows not to chase your best customer during a dispute, or to stop when a check is in the mail, needs your rules written down. Most small businesses keep those rules in one person's head.
Keep a human on the edges. Let the agent send standard reminders and match exact payments. Route disputes, partial payments and anything over a set dollar amount to a person. Log every message the agent sends, so you can see what it said in your name.
