Amazon Seller Assistant plugin lands in Claude
Amazon's new Selling Partner plugin puts listings, inventory and pricing actions inside Claude. Your storefront just became a tool call — here's how to govern it.
Amazon opened Seller Central to outside AI agents. At Amazon Accelerate in Seattle on September 23, the company announced a Selling Partner plugin that carries Seller Assistant's data and actions into other AI tools — shipping with Amazon Quick and in beta with Anthropic's Claude. The Amazon Seller Assistant plugin means the console you have logged into every morning for a decade is now something an agent calls on your behalf.
What actually happened
Three things shipped together, and only one of them is the headline.
The plugin connects a seller's listings, inventory levels, sales analytics and performance metrics to an external agent, and it can read and act. Connecting Claude takes about 60 seconds with no code. It is beta, US stores only, with international to follow.
Seller Assistant also gained persistent memory — pricing patterns, inventory cycles, stated growth goals — and that memory travels across Seller Central, Quick and Claude instead of resetting per session. And workflows now run continuously in the background while you are logged out: describe a trigger in plain language, set guardrails, get an audit trail. Amazon's example is alerting when a top-ten product drops below four stars and drafting a response plan.
Amazon says Seller Assistant is used by 90% of selling partners worldwide and that sellers accept its recommendations more than 90% of the time. Actions taken by workflows still require seller review and approval before they execute. Mary Beth Westmoreland, VP of Worldwide Selling Partner Experience, framed the goal to GeekWire bluntly: sellers would never have to log into Seller Central again.
Amazon is also handing every primary account holder a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription, available through December 31, 2026, with two co-workers included.
Why it matters for your business
The strategic read is not "Amazon added AI." It is that Amazon decided the seller interface is no longer a defensible moat and made the account addressable from anywhere. That is the same move Shopify made with UCP and Stripe made with ACP. The console is becoming an API surface with a chat window bolted on.
Two consequences for anyone running volume on Amazon.
The 60-second setup is the risk. No-code connection means the person who wires an agent to your pricing controls may not be the person who understands your margin floor. Before anyone clicks connect, decide who holds the credential, which account it maps to, and what the agent is allowed to change without a second pair of eyes. Amazon gates workflow actions behind approval — that gate is yours to configure, not theirs to guarantee.
Persistent memory is a data question, not a convenience. Your pricing patterns and inventory cycles now live in a profile that follows you into a third-party model. That is genuinely useful. It is also a description of your operating strategy sitting in a vendor's context window. Read the plugin's permission scope the way you would read a bank integration, because functionally it is one.
The opportunity is real. If you already run scripts against the Selling Partner API, this collapses a week of glue code into a connector. Our advice is to use it for read-heavy work first — inventory reconciliation, listing audits, ad performance pulls — and keep price changes and listing edits behind a human until you have logged an override rate you trust.

A connector that can change your prices deserves the same review as a payment integration. We build and govern agent access to commerce systems — scoped credentials, approval gates, logged overrides. See how we wire agent access to systems you own, or tell us what you are about to connect.
