Claimlane raises €5.6M for AI warranty and returns agents
Claimlane raised a €5.6M Series A to build AI agents for warranty claims, returns and repairs and to grow in the US. Your policy is the input.
AI is coming for the warranty claims inbox. Claimlane, a Danish platform for warranty claims, returns and repairs, raised a €5.6 million Series A to build AI agents for aftersales and to scale in the US. For a merchant, the interesting part isn't the round. It's what an agent needs from you before it can approve a single claim.
What actually happened
Claimlane announced the round this week, and ArcticStartup reported it on November 6. Per the company:
- Investors. Verb Ventures, Skagerak Capital and Vendep Capital, plus angel investors. The announcement doesn't name a lead.
- The product. A claims platform for B2C and B2B: self-service portal, workflows, supplier forwarding, warranty registration and analytics. It integrates with Shopify, Zendesk, Gorgias, Salesforce, NetSuite, SAP and the big carriers.
- The AI plan. The money goes to "AI agents for aftersales product resolution," built around each customer's products, warranty policies, supplier agreements and workflows. The announcement says those agents are still being developed to assess cases against each business's policies, so treat this as a roadmap, not a shipped feature.
- The US push. CEO and co-founder Anders Sommer has moved to Austin. Claimlane says North America is already its largest market for new customers this year, and US sales opportunities are up 150% year on year.
- Scale. The company says its network spans more than 20,000 retailers and brands, including Skechers, Black Diamond, tonies and Hummel.
Why AI returns and warranty agents matter for your business
Returns and warranty claims are the support tickets nobody wants. They're slow, they need judgment, and every one costs you margin. That's exactly why vendors are pointing agents at them.
But an agent can only apply the policy you've written down. If your warranty rules live in one senior rep's head, the agent will either approve too much or escalate everything. Both cost money. Before you buy any AI claims tool, do the boring part:
- Write the policy as rules. Coverage window, proof required, what counts as misuse, repair vs. replace vs. refund.
- Tag your products. An agent can't tell a 2-year warranty item from a 90-day one unless the SKU data says so.
- Set the escalation line. Above a dollar amount, or on a repeat claimant, a human decides.
We've seen a review step change the outcome in retail AI before. Claims are the same: automate the clear cases, keep people on the edge cases.
Key takeaways
- Claimlane raised a €5.6M Series A from Verb Ventures, Skagerak Capital and Vendep Capital
- The money funds AI agents for warranty, returns and repairs, plus US expansion from Austin
- Claimlane says its AI agents are still being developed, so check what's live before you buy
- An AI claims agent is only as good as the warranty policy you write down
- Automate the clear claims; set a dollar line where a human decides
Drowning in returns and warranty tickets? We turn your claims policy into rules a system can apply and wire it into the store and helpdesk you already run. Run the numbers on automating it, or send us your current returns flow.
