HubSpot Agent Hub beta: your CRM now runs the agents

HubSpot's Agent Hub and Agent Builder hit public beta July 23. What metered agents writing to your CRM actually cost, and which switch to check first.

HubSpot Agent Hub went into public beta on July 23, and with it Agent Builder — a console where Professional and Enterprise customers build, trigger, and watch AI agents that share one view of the customer across sales, marketing, and service. If you run your business on HubSpot, an agent that can write to your CRM records is now a checkbox away. The interesting part isn't the demo. It's the meter and the approval gate.

What actually happened

Per HubSpot's release note, Agent Hub is a single console showing every agent, its live status, and what it actually did. Agent Builder lets you describe an agent in plain language through Breeze Assistant and wire it to triggers — schedules, webhooks, third-party integrations — on one canvas alongside your existing workflows. HubSpot CPTO Duncan Lennox framed the problem it solves as fragmentation: agents running in isolation, on different slices of your data. CMSWire covered the launch.

Read HubSpot's own docs on the agent builder and the shape gets concrete. A custom agent can browse the web, read CRM records, and write to CRM records — and that write tool "can require approval before execution." That sentence is the whole governance story.

The billing is already public. Since April 14, HubSpot charges per outcome: Customer Agent at $0.50 per resolved conversation (50 credits), Prospecting Agent at $1.00 per recommended lead (100 credits). Credits run about $10 per 1,000.

Why Agent Hub matters for your business

Outcome pricing is genuinely better than seat pricing — you pay when it works. But it also means your support volume is now a variable cost line, and a badly scoped agent bills you for enthusiasm. Before you turn anything on, put a number on it: 2,000 conversations a month at $0.50 is $1,000, every month, forever. Compare that to what those tickets cost you today, not to zero.

Then find the approval toggle and leave it on for anything that writes. An agent that drafts is a productivity tool. An agent that silently updates deal stages, contact records, or lifecycle fields is rewriting the dataset every forecast and every email sequence depends on. We've made this argument about Microsoft's Sales and Service Agents and we'll keep making it: rent the agent, own the workflow. The rules for what a good lead is, what closes a case, and how a handoff happens should live somewhere you can export.

Key takeaways

  • HubSpot Agent Hub and Agent Builder entered public beta July 23 for Professional and Enterprise customers
  • Custom agents can browse the web, read CRM records, and write to them — the write tool supports a required-approval gate
  • Breeze agents bill per outcome: $0.50 per resolved conversation, $1.00 per recommended lead, credits at ~$10/1,000
  • Model the monthly cost at your real ticket volume, keep approval on for writes, and keep your workflow logic exportable

Turning on agents inside a CRM you don't control? We build the workflow layer — your lead rules, case logic, and handoff paths — so agents connect to it instead of becoming it. See how we set that up or run the numbers on what those tickets cost you now.
