Insurify AI Agent Gateway: MCP and WebMCP for insurance quotes
Insurify's AI Agent Gateway opens insurance quotes to AI agents over MCP and WebMCP, with consent and agent ID rules. The template for your own agent policy.
First Walmart. Now insurance. On October 28, Insurify launched an AI Agent Gateway that lets a shopper's personal AI agent pull real-time insurance quotes from its marketplace. It runs over MCP and WebMCP, and agents have to follow written rules to get in. If you sell anything that gets quoted, compared or booked, this is the pattern coming for your category.
What actually happened
Per Insurify's announcement, agents get three ways in:
- An MCP server for AI assistants and apps that speak the Model Context Protocol
- WebMCP tools on Insurify.com, so browser-based agents can run shopping steps directly instead of clicking through pages. Insurify notes WebMCP is still a proposed web standard.
- A web interface tuned for agents that browse sites on a consumer's behalf
All three hit the same marketplace with the same protections. The rules for participating agents:
- Consumer consent controls how personal information is shared
- Coverage transparency: quotes keep coverage details, carrier attribution and disclosures
- Privacy and security stay inside Insurify's existing safeguards
- Identified agent access: agents identify themselves and connect through an approved integration
- A clear path to the carrier for reviewing coverage and binding the policy
Co-founder and co-CEO Giorgos Zacharia invited agent developers to build on it. The PR Newswire release carries the same announcement. Insurify did not publish endpoint docs, tool names or usage numbers for the gateway.
Why it matters for your business
Agents are learning to quote, not just buy. Walmart's gateway was about checkout. Insurify's is about comparison: a regulated product with disclosures that must survive the trip through an AI. Any business that sends quotes, from HVAC to legal services, will face the same question. When an agent asks for your price, what comes back, and what gets stripped?
Steal the five rules. Consent, transparency, privacy, identified access, a path back to you. That's a complete agent policy, and most small businesses have none. Write yours before an agent shows up uninvited.
"Identified agent" is the key line. Anonymous bots get blocked or scraped. Named agents through an approved door can be logged, rate-limited and held to terms. If you open up to agents, require them to say who they are.
WebMCP is early. It's a proposal, not a shipped standard. An MCP server is the safer first build. Add WebMCP tools to your site once browsers support them widely.
Key takeaways
- Insurify's AI Agent Gateway (Oct 28) gives AI agents real-time insurance quotes over MCP, WebMCP and an agent-tuned web interface
- Agents must get consumer consent, keep disclosures intact, identify themselves and route binding to the carrier
- Those five rules make a ready-made agent policy for any business that quotes prices
- WebMCP is still a proposed standard; start with an MCP server
- No public endpoint docs or usage numbers yet
