Meta One: your social business tools now cost $14.99–$499
Meta launched Meta One subscriptions on September 15, with business and creator tiers from $14.99 to $499 a month. What the paywall means for your storefront.
The free version of your marketing channel just became the demo. On September 15 Meta launched Meta One, a subscription bundle across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp — and the tiers that matter to anyone running a business go from $14.99 to $499 a month. Scheduling, link-outs, account delegation, and agent access are now line items. If Instagram is where your customers find you, you have a new recurring bill to price.
What actually happened
TechCrunch reports Meta introduced Meta One with two consumer tiers — Core at $7.99/month and Premium at $19.99/month — both bundling Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus. The pitch is AI capacity: Muse Image and Muse Video generation, the Restyle editor for Stories, voice effects. Premium buys more of the same, plus more headroom on heavier reasoning queries.
The business and creator ladder is the part to read carefully. Per Engadget: Essential at $14.99, Advanced at $49.99, Expert at $149, and Max at $499 a month. Advanced is where Instagram story scheduling, clickable URLs in captions, and account delegation live. Higher tiers add access to Meta's business agent, and Max tops out with the highest-capacity agent access and unlimited human support, phone calls included. Individually, WhatsApp Plus runs $2.99 and Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus $3.99 each.
Meta says its earlier subscription offerings have drawn more than 15 million sign-ups, counting trials. The company notes benefits, pricing and availability vary by region, app and account — so check what actually shows up in your own account before you budget against these numbers.
Why Meta One matters for your business
Two things got repriced here, and only one of them is AI.
The first is distribution mechanics. A clickable URL in an Instagram caption is not a feature — it is the difference between a post that sells and a post that says "link in bio." Putting that behind $49.99/month is Meta charging rent on the last mile between your content and your checkout. Pay it if the math works, but run the math: one recovered sale a month covers Advanced at most price points. If it doesn't, you were never converting on that channel anyway.
The second is support. Phone access to a human costs $499 a month. That is the honest signal in this launch. For years the answer to a locked business account was a help-center loop and a prayer. Now there is a number, and it has a price. Treat that as confirmation of something you already suspected: your Meta presence is a rented asset with a support contract you didn't have.
The move is not to refuse the bill. It's to make sure the bill is optional. Your customer list, your product catalog, your order history and your email and SMS channels should live on infrastructure you control, so that a pricing change is an annoyance instead of an outage. Social is the top of the funnel. It should never be the funnel.
