Sema4.ai 3.0 Verified Queries: Stop Paying to Regenerate SQL
Sema4.ai 3.0 claims Verified Queries cut LLM tokens 80% by reusing approved SQL. The pattern works in any AI agent stack. Here's how to apply it.
Sema4.ai released version 3.0 of its enterprise AI agent platform on October 29, and the headline is cost, not capability. Its new Verified Queries feature reuses approved data-access patterns instead of asking the model to write a new query every time. Sema4.ai claims that cuts LLM tokens by 80% and returns results up to 4x faster, per the company's announcement. Those are vendor numbers. The idea behind them is sound, and you can use it without buying anything.
What actually happened
The 3.0 release adds features in three groups:
- Reuse: Verified Queries reuse approved data queries (80% fewer tokens, 4x faster, compared with generating the query fresh each time). Verified Logic reuses approved calculations, checks, and transformations (50% fewer tokens and 30% faster on repeat work).
- Teams: shared workspaces for agents, skills, and files; a business catalog; and "Memories" that store customer-specific rules so agents apply them on every run.
- Operations: an Agent Inbox that watches Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace email and handles webhooks, Enhanced DataFrames that run calculations on large datasets without pushing every row through the model, and an audit log with before-and-after diffs.
CEO Rob Bearden put the pitch plainly: "Building an AI agent is no longer the hard part." Running it at a cost you can live with is. The release lists no pricing.
Why verified queries matter for your business
Most business agents ask the same ten questions a thousand times. "What did we sell last week?" "Which invoices are past 30 days?" If your agent writes fresh SQL for each one, you pay for the same reasoning every time, and you get a slightly different query every time. One of those versions will be wrong.
The fix is old-fashioned:
- Log what your agent actually asks. A week of logs shows you the top questions.
- Write those queries once, by hand, and review them. Store them as named, parameterized functions.
- Expose them as tools. The model picks
past_due_invoices(days=30)instead of writing SQL. It spends a few tokens choosing, not hundreds generating. - Let free-form generation handle only the long tail, and promote anything that repeats to a verified tool.
You get lower token bills, faster answers, and numbers that match your accounting every time. That last part matters more than the bill.
Key takeaways
- Sema4.ai 3.0 (October 29) adds Verified Queries, Verified Logic, shared team workspaces, Memories, and an email/webhook Agent Inbox
- Vendor claims: 80% fewer tokens and 4x faster for Verified Queries; 50% fewer tokens and 30% faster for Verified Logic
- No pricing was published with the release
- For your business: turn your agent's repeat questions into reviewed, parameterized tools, and keep free-form SQL for the long tail
Your agent shouldn't pay to re-think the same question. We build agents on reviewed, parameterized tools over your own data, so answers are cheap and match your books. Run the numbers on your workflow or show us the questions your team asks every day.
