eBay's WHI Launches Nexus AI Voice Agent for Phone Orders

WHI Solutions' Nexus AI voice agent takes parts orders by phone 24/7 in English and Spanish through Nexpart. Your phone line is a sales channel. Wire it in.

WHI Solutions, the eBay-owned company behind the Nexpart parts ordering network, launched Nexus, an AI suite whose first job is an AI voice agent that answers distributor phone lines and places orders. No web form. No app. The repair shop calls, the agent takes the order, and the order goes into the same Nexpart workflow a human counter rep would use. That is the part that matters: the agent writes to the system of record, not to a notepad.

What actually happened

Per WHI's October 30 announcement, the voice agent answers calls 24 hours a day, answers questions, and places orders through Nexpart in English and Spanish. WHI says more languages are in development.

Parts Authority is the first distributor to deploy it to customers, and Factory Motor Parts is named as one of the next. WHI says Nexus is live with major distributors and that dozens more implementations are underway. It ships with Nexpart for what WHI calls a "minimal" setup fee. No dollar figure is public.

WHI general manager Mike Schuurs put the pitch in one line: "AI can help answer the call, but your people still own the relationship." WHI plans to build Nexus into the core Nexpart platform and add more AI features. It names no dates. Live demos are at AAPEX in Las Vegas, November 3–5.

What the release does not say: call resolution rates, order volumes, or what happens when the agent cannot finish a call. Ask for all three before you sign anything like it.

Why an AI voice agent on the order line matters for your business

Most small B2B sellers still take a big share of orders by phone. Those calls hit at 7 a.m., at lunch, and after close, which is exactly when nobody is at the counter. Every missed call is an order that went to the next supplier on the list.

The lesson from Nexus is not "buy a voice bot." It is the order of operations:

Catalog first. A voice agent can only sell what it can look up. If your part numbers, stock and prices live in three spreadsheets, the agent will invent answers.

Write to the real system. The agent should create the order in your ERP or commerce platform through an API, with the same validation a human order gets.

Design the handoff. Decide which calls go to a person: new accounts, credit holds, anything over a set dollar amount. Log every transfer.

Measure it like staff. Track completed orders, transfers and errors per week. If a vendor cannot give you those numbers, you are buying a demo.

Key takeaways

  • WHI's Nexus voice agent answers distributor phone lines 24/7 and places orders through Nexpart
  • It speaks English and Spanish at launch; Parts Authority is the first distributor deploying it
  • Pricing is a "minimal" setup fee with Nexpart; no dollar figure or resolution rates are public
  • A voice agent is only as good as the catalog and order API behind it
  • Define human handoff rules and track completed orders before you scale

Your phone line is an order channel. Treat it like one. We build voice agents that read your real catalog, write orders through your own API, and hand the hard calls to your team with a log of why. See how we build it, or price the missed calls first.
